sometimes people complain that my 18+ art appears in google search results for certain fandoms and characters, like hhgregg. people are genuinely upset at me for this when i have no control over what google images does with my pictures.
i'm not sure what to do about this. i tried looking up hhgregg on google both with and without safesearch. the results were identical to the point that adult artwork showed up on safesearch, which is not a good thing. if i want to advocate for people under 18 to use safesearch, then something needs to be done about it by the adults of the community.
i think that safesearch can be a good tool if it works well, but a dedicated team would have to look through search results regularly and report images that don't fit an -18 audience.
the mlp fandom used to have a small thing called "safe search wrap up" where they would type in keywords relating to various characters and report images that were too sexual or violent to appear on safesearch. maybe that idea is something to keep in mind. i'm scared that kids will expose themselves to explicit images while trying to be heroes, but i hope responsible adults can work together to make a useful tool that lets minors control their own online experiences without restricting what adult content can exist.
